Whole School Principal Job Description General Purpose of Job. The Principal will take a major role in:

To ensure that teachers in all sections are performing their respective duties to the highest quality and efficiency permitted by their knowledge and skills, adhering to the internal regulations of the School. 2)

Promote continuous improvement in the administrative and educational processes in the Academic Division, in accordance with the general strategy of the School with respect to growth, market positioning, educational quality, and mainly the safety of students and the School community in general.

Qualities The Principal will: ●

Be responsible for all aspects of the planning, organising, staffing, motivating, directing, and management of the school, including: - Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct. - Build positive and respectful relationships across the school community. - Serve in the best interests of the school’s students. Duties and responsibilities School culture and behaviour The Principal will: - Lead and support cultural and organisational change in order to promote cooperation with partner agencies and organisations and further improve the educational opportunities available to students. - Create a culture where students experience a positive and enriching school life. - Uphold educational standards in order to prepare studenys from all backgrounds for their next phase of education and life. - Ensure a culture of staff professionalism. - Maintain overall leadership of the Circle Around the Child. - Encourage high standards of behaviour from students, built on rules and routines that are understood by staff and students and clearly demonstrated by all adults in school. - Use consistent and fair approaches to managing behaviour, in line with the school’s behaviour policy. - Create a culture that respects all people and celebrates diversity of all kinds

Teaching, curriculum and assessment The Principal will: - Lead, coordinate and manage the work of all educational staff through the Heads of Kinder, Primary and Secondary. Ensure that realistic but challenging performance targets are set and achieved through monitoring the quality of teaching, learning, the curriculum and assessment. - Establish and sustain high-quality teaching across all subjects and grades, based on evidence. - Ensure teaching is underpinned by subject expertise. - Effectively use formative assessment to inform strategy and decisions. - Ensure the school’s holistic curriculum is up to date and in line with requirements for external accreditation. - Use valid, reliable and proportionate approaches to assessing students’ knowledge and understanding of the curriculum. - Ensure the use of evidence-informed approaches to reading so that all students are taught to read.

Job Description for a Class Teacher in the Secondary School IB Diploma Business and Management with MiddlePSHE (Personal Social and Health Education) 2025-26

 

You will need a passion to inspire young minds and a commitment to ensuring that every child achieves their potential. Tasks are broadly the same for all Secondary school teachers and include the following: Teaching

● Taking responsibility for the academic, social and emotional progress of secondary-age pupils studying the subject.

● Teaching the IB Diploma Business and Management and PSHE curriculum.

● As a team, developing medium and short-term plans in line with curriculum objectives

● Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the curriculum and completing the training required by the school.

● Following weekly Team Notes, the Winpenny Handbook and Winpenny Professional Expectations for Teachers.

● Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range.

● Linking pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and developing ways to encourage it further.

● Challenging and inspiring children to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.

● Preparing engaging lessons, using up-to-date teaching methodologies.

● Regularly marking work and giving timely feedback to facilitate positive academic development.

● Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of children’s academic development.

● Providing feedback to parents on each child’s progress through termly reports for parents, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other meetings as required.

● Undergoing regular observations and participating in staff meetings and regular in-service training (INSET) as part of continuing professional development (CPD).

● Being an example for children to follow.

● Performing any reasonable task requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

Creating a Positive Classroom Environment

● Facilitating learning by establishing a relationship with all learners in the class.

● Organising the classroom and learning resources, and keeping a tidy classroom.

● Creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment.

● Maintaining discipline according to the school’s Behaviour Policy.

● Creating a positive learning environment that motivates children to be the best they can be.

● Promoting the IB Learner Profile Attributes. Teamwork

● Working flexibly and maintaining harmony.

● Planning and collaborating with the secondary team to ensure equality of opportunity for all learners.

● Organising and taking part in special school events, outings, activities and school assemblies.

● Meeting with other professionals such as educational psychologists and therapists, as required. Health and Safety

● Taking responsibility for the health and safety of pupils at all times.

● Supervising children during break duties according to the duty timetable.

● Reporting any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Team Around the Child. Winpenny teachers:

Additional requirements:

● Hold a valid teaching qualification for Secondary education recognised by the SEP ● Have at least two years of relevant work experience ● Can understand and communicate in a professional level of English ● Have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality ● Have a clear criminal record
